Hanging Cabinet

  • De Meester Vliegen
  • Verde Patricia marble
  • American Walnut
Ask the architect duo Tom De Meester and Tine Vliegen what they think is the most beautiful application of natural stone in the world and their answer is guaranteed to be Mies van der Rohe's onyx wall in Villa Tugendhat. This hanging cabinet in Verde Patricia marble, however, comes in a very close second. From a technical-engineering point of view, its seven metres and three tons of marble and steel presented a major challenge. The marble sculpture, installed in an Antwerp penthouse, houses, among other things, a TV cabinet, while the wooden American-walnut box hides the bathroom, kitchen and staircase.
